Pete is a slim, decent looking guy with dark hair and eyes and mildly olive complected skin in his early 30's. He dresses well, but not spectacularly, and would probably do well with the ladies if he could just keep his mouth shut and not be such an asocial engineer.
The Makeshift armor is silver, with bluish energy in various places, complicated gauntlets with integrated blasters, a power pack, and a full helm.
Biography
Pete grew up in Chicago, the son of a Greek electronics repairman, and spent his youth developing a hands-on talent for gadgetry in his father's shop. A social loner, Pete was far more comfortable tinkering with wires than being around people, and his one true passion was a deep obsession with superhero movies and television. This fixation fueled a lifelong dream: to stop fixing gadgets and one day become a hero himself, despite having no powers of his own.
He pursued this dream by studying Electrical Engineering, where he excelled in practical labs but struggled with theoretical bookwork. During college, he secretly attempted to build his own crude power-armor, an effort that ultimately failed but resulted in a breakthrough patent for a miniaturized battery system. Despite this invention, Pete's abrasive personality and poor social skills cost him every job interview save one: a low-level R&D position at the government agency PRIMACY. For seven years, his 'unique personality' left him stagnating in a basement lab, his skills overlooked and his heroic dream all but forgotten.
Everything changed when Pete was finally assigned to a high-profile project: analyzing the captured Stegosaur power armor. Seeing this as his last chance, he secretly copied the blueprints and, using his access, 'requisitioned' salvaged parts—including a damaged STABLE-tech gauntlet and the busted helmet of the master villain Dr. Despoiler. He cobbled these disparate pieces into his own unique 'Makeshift' suit, quit his job, and finally became the hero he'd always imagined. Now operating as Makeshift, he has begun building a public reputation, but he remains unregistered, fearing PRIMACY will discover he stole his technology and confiscate the suit before he can prove his heroic worth.
Capabilities and Motivations
Pete himself has no innate powers; he is a normal human whose abilities come entirely from his advanced technical skills and the 'Makeshift' armor he built. The suit is a hybrid system, with its core chassis being a modified copy of the 'Stegosaur' armor, streamlined without the original's tail or spikes and powered by Pete's own patented, miniaturized power supplies. The suit's most significant component is its helmet, a refurbished version of Dr. Despoiler's own tech that Pete salvaged from scrap. While some of its original functionality was lost, the helmet provides Makeshift with advanced sensory, command, and control options that are critical to the suit's operation.
In combat, Makeshift functions primarily as a versatile blaster, wielding a plasma blaster from a salvaged STABLE-tech gauntlet and a second blaster reverse-engineered from the defeated villain Mantarazor. The suit is surprisingly mobile, integrating emergency boot jets, a propulsion pack (also from Mantarazor), and tunneling capabilities copied from 'Warmadillo' schematics. While the armor is physically sturdy, its latest iteration features an upgraded motility suite that allows Pete to seamlessly shift between his various movement modes in the heat of battle, making him a fast and unpredictable opponent.
