Notes: Famous magical sword with a 4 thousand year history. Created by the Witchlord Heargoran, this mighty blade served many until it was lost three thousand years ago when its current bearer Farroall Vadefean disappeared along with an expedition into the Portavian Mountains. Reappeared in the hands of the warrior known as the Hooded Man 22 years ago, but he wont tell the story of how he came by it. This blade has a tendency to be overlooked, fading in to the background. It is not flashy, ornate, or remarkable for its appearance; it is the opposite of that in fact. It is functional, simple, and plain. Until it is weilded in battle; then it comes into sharp focus, seeming to twist the very air around it, tearing through space, flesh, rock, whatever as if it were not even there. It strikes without great force, simply parting that which it passes through. However the blade is thirsty, and requires its price in blood.

Notes: A five thousand year old magical cloak created by the Witchlord Verrugar Heiniam that was lost three thousand years ago when its current bearer Farroall Vadefean disappeared along with an expedition into the Portavian Mountains. Reappeared in the hands of the warrior known as the Hooded Man 22 years ago, but he wont tell the story of how he came by it. This cloak was once quite fine, with ornate brocade on its torso, and made of the finest materials. However, it has seen the passing of over 50 centuries and if it were not invested with powerful magics it would long ago have fallen apart. It's purpose is to protect it's wearer from Magical attacks.

Koros Fhalian
Legendary Warrior NPC
Height: 6' 0" Hair: Dark Brown
Weight: 180 lbs Eyes: Black
Appearance: Plain looking wiry man with spare features, black hair, dark brown eyes, and an emotionless constant expression. He usually keeps the hood of his magical mantle pulled up, hiding his features and the source of his nom de guerre.
Personality: Revenge.

Koros became a hard man before he was twenty. Now that he's pushing fourty he's as hard as nails and twice as sharp. He has become a heartless, focused slayer with but one goal -- to kill the chieftan of the Kor-Hus and break the tribe that slew his father.
Quote:"Vedrņ il Kor-Hus sparso come le ceneri sul vento!" (roughly translated: "I will see the Kor-Hus scattered like ashes upon the wind!")
Background: The man named Koros was born in a small village called Fhalia in the north of Lanolyn near the border with the lands of the Kor-Vek and Kor-Hus tribe. Due to its proximity to the unpredictable raiders, the village was very millitant, and a very regimented process of training and maintaining battle skills was in place and had served the residents well for several hundreds of years. The village boasted a modest stockade, but it was the fighting spirit and skills of its simple inhabitants that protected it year in and year out for untold hundreds of years, since the Kor first came to this land in long-forgotten antiquity among the uneducated villagers.

Koros was not a particularly good student of these martial techniques when very young, being a somewhat frail lad, but became more proficent as he grew older and his natural dexterity and wiry hardiness served him well. Restless as a lad he craved adventure or anything other than the endless toil of village life. When he was 16 a troupe of eight adventurers setting out to brave the Portavian Mountains to the north to seek storied treasures beyond in the Frozen Wastes stopped in Fhalia on their way. The impressionable Koros was amazed by their tales and stories, and decided to follow them, running away in the night without even saying good bye to his aging mother and father to chase after the adventurers. He eventually caught up with them and despite their initial hazing and discouragement refused to turn back. He eventually won their respect and most of the adventurers took him under their wing.

The journey into the mountains was brutal, and Koros refuses to speak of it to this day, but two years later he and two others of the original nine emerged from the mountains, each bearing potent magic items lost many thousands of years before and hard gleams in their eyes. One of the three, the unstoppable warrior of a distant people called the "Machtig" named Dyorgrim returned to his homeland with the fell black blade Urunblacic (OR-oon-BLOT-seek), but Koros and the woman warrior Srella from far off Banderlen, who now carried the blade called Throasarlanium once carried by the Witchlord Jaregar and wore the magical tiara of the Witchlord Ceileruk, had struck up a romance on the journey. The still-young though battle hardened Koros followed her to her home of Banderlen and for a while lived with her there, but they eventually had a falling out and the heartbroken young man wandered for a time. He journeyed around the southlands of Vorgaa, ended up in Shidaal for a time, traveled up into the lands of the Machtig to visit his old friend Dyorgrim, who had recently become Laird of his Clan, and stayed for a short time in Steinern, then pressed on to Kasaad and had a few adventures in the lands of the Undari.

Tales of war between the Lanolyan and the Kor-Hus eventually reached Kasaad and Koros immediately set off on the Vandolor north to his homeland but the caravan he was with was attacked on its way through the Blasted Lands by the Kor and Koros was forced to trek the rest of the way home through the scrub wastes of the Blasted Lands. He was set upon on his journey but slew all that came at him and eventually just took to slaughtering any clump of Kor he came across. Soon tales of "Durhyn" (DER-een; roughly the Hooded Man), the heartless killer spread among the Kor of the region.

Once he reached Valenezia he discovered that his village of Fhalia had been one of the first hit, and though the villagers had made an accounting of themselves, they had been crushed by the superior numbers of the Kor raiding force. Many died, including Koros' father and several cousins. Filled with anger at his absence, for surely with his presense the tide would have been turned, he blamed himself for the tragedy and turned his attention to wreaking terrible revenge upon the Kor-Hus. A champion of his people, he soon rose to prominence among the forces doing war on the Kor, and quickly became a respect advisor in the war council of Haerengeth Thrandero, the thirty-ninth Lord Valenz.

However, years later the war came to a close, and a peace treaty was brokered and signed. Koros vehemnetly opposed the treaty, and when it was put into effect he issued a public statement that he planned to continue taking the fight to the Kor. Almost fifty other veterans of the war joined him in his struggle and collectively they came to be called the Durodad (DOOR-oh-DODD; roughly translates to difficult to stop or hard to kill depending on context). Eventually they were pressured to stop and then exiled from Lanolyan, but simply moved across the border into Quirria and continued to fight. However, their numbers were dwindling and eventually after a few years of attrition the Kor put prices on the heads of the remaining 18 Durodad. After a concerted attack left but 10 alive and lead the Quirian government to ban the group for fear of collateral damage, Koros realized that the group must depart the area....for the now.

He "recommended" that the survivors journey down the Vandolor River with him to Kasaad where they could rest and regain their strength and then return later to continue their revenge. The other nine followed him, but three more fell to ambushes and attacks during the harrowing journey. Now the survivng seven Durodad hire out as mercenaries out of Kasaad, primarily on caravans journeying through Kor lands to Daelanthanor. But Koros has not forgotten his pledge for vengeance and will not rest until he has personally slain a chieftan of the Kor-Hus.
