Leader
|
Equipment: Octavian's Sword (treat as Double Handed Weapon and Sword; +2 STR (included
in profile), may Parry); Gromril Armour, Rare Items (see below).
|
Octavian is a Master Vampire and has sired a vampire brood that plagues the streets
with their coteries. Whenever one of his childer's broods or those of other lesser
Vampire's in the service of the von
Carsteins are outnumbered he might be moved to assist them at no cost to the warband
as indicated by the adjoining table. Octavian joins for only one battle, and counts
as the Leader of the band for the duration of his stay even if the normal Leader
has a higher Leadership value.

The Embrace
|
CAMPAIGN LEVEL SKILL: No effect on combat. See the
Vampire Skill Embrace for full details.
|
Bloodsucker
|
If the Vampire puts a foe Out of Action by any means in HtH combat and is more than
2" away from any other enemy then he sucks the foes blood and thereby gains
a Wound in addition to taking the foe Out of Action. This power can take the Vampire
over his normal Wounds limit for the duration of the battle.
|
Blood Magic
|
The Vampire may choose to use any one of the Strength or Speed Skills that he does
not already possess for the remainder of the game, but looses a Wound for each skill
he uses. The Vampire must currently have 2 or more wounds to use this ability.
|
Hypnotic Gaze
|
At the begining of every HtH Combat Turn before charges are resolved the Vampire
may attempt to transfix a single foe already in HtH with the Vampire with his Hypnotic
Gaze. The target must make a Leadership roll or freeze, captured by the Vampires
will. Hypnotized models may not fight in the ensuing phase of HtH combat and all
HtH attacks against them automatically hit. They recover from being hypnotized at
the end of the HtH phase.
|
Mist Form
|
The Vampire may choose to disperse himself into a misty non-corporeal form during
his own Recovery phase. While in Mist Form the Vampire is immune to non-magical
attacks, may leave any HtH combats he is engaged in without being struck, and can
ignore terrain and height. However, he can not run or charge, use any other abilities
that affect corporeal models, or use any equipment that he might be carrying. Additionally,
no other models may use his Leadership Value. He may stay in this Mist Form for
a maximum of 2 of his own Turns at a time. The Vampire resumes his normal form in
the Recovery Phase at will or after the time limit has expired.
|
Strongman
|
The warrior can use a Double-Handed Weapon without striking last.
|
Strike to Injure
|
+1 Injury rolls in hand-to-hand combat.
|
Jump Up
|
The warrior ignores 'Knocked Down' injuries, unless he is 'Knocked Down' by a save
from a Helmet.
|
Lightning Reflexes
|
If the warrior is charged, he strikes in Initiative order, not last.
|
Madness (Frenzy)
|
The warrior suffers from Frenzy.
|
|
(Un)Holy Relic
|
The model auto-passes the first Ld test he takes. If taken by the leader, and he
has not already taken a Ld test, he auto-passes the first Rout test he takes.
|
Healing Herbs
|
Restores all wounds lost. Use once at the beginning of the Recovery phase.
|
Elf Bow
|
1 Attack, 36" R, S3, -1 save modifier.
|
Hunting Arrows
|
+1 to Injury rolls when used with a Short Bow, Bow, Long Bow or Elf Bow.
|
Lucky Charm
|
The model may ignore the first hit he takes in every battle.

Octavian was one of the first Vampires sent to Mordheim by the von Carsteins, and
he soon made his mark on the dark city as the most dangerous and effective Vampire
lord hunting the dark streets for Wyrdstone. His early successes were only offset
by difficulties with the then-newly formed Reikers mercenary company and the Bomby Zeny band of Sigmarite Sisters.
|
Despite some setbacks, Octavian still managed to keep the wyrdstone flowing back
to Sylvannia, and soon he recieved orders from the von Carsteins to establish a
cabal and manage a larger operation of wyrdstone gathering. This he did, siring
several childer: Ulvhy (later slain),
Nataza, Lilith,
and Fritz von Rochestein.
|
He soon found further conflict with Steelbeard Ironhand's Dwarven Treasure Hunters,
and several lesser contenders, many of whom disbanded after being savaged by Octavian
and his faithful minions. Months passed, and Octavians name became known and
feared by all manner of wyrdstone hunters and a trail of broken bodies stretched
behind the foul fiend of the night and he withstood all assaults upon his domination,
including many run ins with the Bomby Zeny and a close dance with destruction at
the hands of a powerful alliance lead by them that sought the Vampire out to his
very lair. All was within his claws when the fateful eve came when Octavian made
the mistake of trying to prey on what appeared to be a band of large framed but
comparitively weak looking humans, fewer in number and more poorly equipped than
most bands maruading the city.
|
In reality however, they were
Norscan Reavers, newly arrived and eager for battle and glory in pursuit
of the fabled wealth they had traveled so far to gain. Seemingly undaunted by the
fearsome aspect of their Undead attackers, the pale skinned humans leaped headlong
into battle, one of them even taking on the form of a fearsome wolfman, and several
frothing at the mouth in battle frenzy. The Undead took their toll on them and finally
chased the insane Northmen off, but not before several of the barbarians beat the
mighty Octavian into the ground. Only his superhuman nature saved him from certain
doom, but he was never quite the same after that. Perhaps as a result of being bitten
by the strange wolfman, Octavian became subject to battle frenzy himself. Not since
one of the hated Bomby Zeny (whom he later killed) crushed one of his legs had Octavian
been so sorely injured, but he recuperated quickly and returned to the streets.
|
However, luck was not with him and he soon encountered the howling mad Norscans
again. This time they had been seasoned to the ways of Mordheim and the fight was
hardpressed. The Undead were able to hold on to their staked claim, but it was obvious
that the days of supremacy on the streets were drawing to a close. Two more encounters
with the Norscans followed, as well as run ins with old enemies such as the Bomby
Zeny and the Reikers (lead first by Gundar the Swift and then by Charles the Stupendous)
and Octavians Order had been much reduced.
|
About this time Octavian received new orders from the von Carsteins directing him
to assume management of all the von Carstein's interests in Mordheim, granting him
oversight over several other Vampire-led bands. Taking a more distant stance, Octavian
set his childer up with bands of their own so as to tend to these duties. Octavian
now spends his time making deals with other evil leaders, observing patterns in
the activity in and around the City of the Damned, and in trying to discover the
location and nature of the Shadowlord. However, when his childer or those Vampires
under his purview are outmatched he still might be moved to come to their assistance;
when this occurs the streets once again run with the blood of his foes.
