Orlo

Secret Signs: Because I have an unusual mystical talent I sometimes see signs, portents, and sigils that provide me with information about the present or near future that I could not possibly know otherwise. I gain +2 while I am Focused and create advantage when I attempt to discover or notice some detail, fact, Aspect, or truth about the scene, or a person or group in it, even if it would not normally be possible for me to know or detect this information with merely mundane senses.

Favored By Fortune: Because I am unusually lucky, I add +1 shift to my total whenever I make a 4dF resolution roll and there are no minuses (-) in the result.

Lightning Draw: Because I have mastered the art of the lightning draw, I gain an automatic boost when I am Quick and draw my blade for the first time in an exchange. Additionally, if I opt to do this at the beginning of a conflict I gain +2 to determine who goes first.

A'gar'thalion (-4): Because I am the heir to a powerful magical sword of ancient lineage, I weild the blade A'gar'thalion.

Summoning Difficulty: +5

Radiant Blade, Aura Of Protection

Good At: Blocking (+3), Cutting (+3)

Bad At: Going Unnoticed (-2)

Stress [1][2][3]

Mild (2)

Moderate (4)

Though not wealthy by his own standards, Orlo has managed to secure sufficient sums to live comfortably...compared to a carpenter or mason. Of course, that sort of life is beneath him and thus Orlo continues to acquire wealth as best he can without veering too far off course his quest.

Orlo has several sets of very fine travel clothing, a golden amulet worth at least 20 gp that has sentimental value, and wears fine leather armor.

Consumable Items

Orlo has accumulated some consumables like potions, scrolls, and alchemical items to aid him in his adventures and always seems to have a few on hand.

Alchemical Toolkit, Faintly Magical (Transmutation)

Benefit: +3 while Carefully Roguish to overcome mechanical or magical traps that have a triggering mechanism. Each Trapbusting Kit contains enough raw materials to mix up an acid or a neutralizing agent or even a small shaped explosive sufficient to counter different kinds of traps.

Uses: [1][1][1]

Each usage box indicates a seperate use or application and each use expends a usage box; when there are none left the item is expended.

The user must have Roguish +1 or better to use this item, and must be able to use the materials in the trapbusting kit to mix up a compound to suit the situation and be able to apply it directly to the triggering mechanism of the trap.

Magical Spell Trapped On Paper, Faintly Magical (Abjuration)

Benefit: +4 to cast Shield.

Uses: [1][1][1]

Each usage box indicates a seperate use or application and each use expends a usage box; when there are none left the item is expended.

This item requires Arcane +1 or better to use.

Arcane Spell (Evocation), Force

Create advantage while Carefully Arcane vs an Average (+1) difficulty to apply the spell Aspect Magic Shield to myself. While this Aspect is active I reduce damage from physical and magical attacks by one (1). This Aspect may also be invoked to offer protection when defending from physical or magical harm.

Potion In A Flask, Faintly Magical (Healing)

Benefit: A character may drink the potion as an action to 'cast' the spell Heal on themselves. Treat this as if the overcome attempt succeeded with six (6) shifts of effect, and also clear all of the character's stress boxes.

Uses: [1][1]

Each usage box indicates a seperate use or application and each use expends a usage box; when there are none left the item is expended.

Divine Spell (Healing)

While Carefully Divine I may attempt to clear a specific stress box or consequence by overcoming a difficulty equal to the numerical value of the stress box or Consequence.

Potion In A Flask, Faintly Magical (Illusion)

Benefit: A character may drink the potion as an action to 'cast' the spell Disguise on themselves. Treat this as if the create advantage attempt succeeded and the resulting spell Aspect has two (2) invokes.

Uses: [1][1]

Each usage box indicates a seperate use or application and each use expends a usage box; when there are none left the item is expended.

Arcane Spell (Illusion)

Create advantage while Sneakily Arcane vs a Good (+3) difficulty to create a spell Aspect on myself called Magical Disguise for one (1) scene or until all invocations are used. While it is active this Aspect allows me to look like someone else. Attempts to imitate a specific individual are more likely to be disbelieved unless a convincing portrayal is given. I may invoke the Aspect to gain a bonus on an action where looking like someone else helps me succeed, such as attacking an unaware opponent. The spell Aspect can be temporarily neutralized by those with unusual senses or magic or special items creating an applicable advantage; the ability or item will generally specify how it works or what the difficulty is. The spell Aspect can also be overcome and thus removed by some abilities that explicitly counter illusions or dispel magic in which case the difficulty is determined as normal per the simple magic guidelines.

Overcoming Spell Aspects is explained in the Simple Magic guidelines.

Potion In A Flask, Faintly Magical (Illusion)

Benefit: A character may drink the potion as an action to 'cast' the spell Invisibility on themselves. Treat this as if the create advantage attempt succeeded and the resulting spell Aspect has two (2) invokes.

Uses: [1][1][1]

Each usage box indicates a seperate use or application and each use expends a usage box; when there are none left the item is expended.

Arcane Spell (Illusion), Invisibility

Create advantage while Sneakily Arcane vs a Good (+3) difficulty to create a spell Aspect on myself called Invisible for one (1) scene or until all invocations are used. While the Aspect is in play, I cannot be seen by normal senses. I may invoke the Aspect to gain a bonus on an action where being invisible helps me succeed, such as attacking an unaware opponent. The spell Aspect can be temporarily neutralized by those with unusual senses or magic or special items creating an applicable advantage; the ability or item will generally specify how it works or what the difficulty is. The spell Aspect can also be overcome and thus removed by some abilities that explicitly counter invisibility or dispel magic in which case the difficulty is determined as normal per the simple magic guidelines.

Overcoming Spell Aspects is explained in the Simple Magic guidelines.

Known Spells

Orlo is but a journeyman arcanist (+2 Arcane), and thus only able to manage cantrips and a handful of minor spells. Additionally, he can only have two active spell Aspects in effect at any given time. Cantrips can take many forms, but the following are the minor spells he is able to cast.

Arcane Spell (Transmutation), Buff

Create advantage while Carefully Arcane vs an Average (+1) difficulty to create a spell Aspect on myself called Arcane Speed for one (1) scene or until all invocations are used. While this Aspect is active I am faster than I normally am. I may invoke this Aspect to go first in an exchange or to move an extra zone and still attack, or invoke it twice to do both at the same time (this is an exception to the general rule about invoking an Aspect twice for the same action, as it does two different things when invoked in this way).

Overcoming Spell Aspects is explained in the Simple Magic guidelines.

Arcane Spell (Enchantment), Mind-Affecting

Create advantage while Sneakily Arcane vs an Average (+1) difficulty to create a spell Aspect called Arcanely Charming on myself or a sentient target in my zone for one (1) scene or until all invocations are used. While this Aspect is active the target of the spell Aspect adds +1 to their Roguish Archetype in all social encounters with other sentient beings. The spell Aspect may also be invoked to grant an additional +2 bonus to social actions for a single exchange.

Overcoming Spell Aspects is explained in the Simple Magic guidelines.

Arcane Spell (Illusion), Figment

Create Advantage while Sneakily Arcane vs a Fair (+2) difficulty to attach the spell Aspect Mirror Images to myself to create one Mirror Image construct which is an illusory duplicate of myself that stays near me doing its best to confuse others as to which of us is real. I can create additional Mirror Image constructs by allocating one (1) extra shift for each. See the Mirror Images servitor profile for details.

Servitors are explained in the Simple Magic guidelines.

Summoning Difficulty: +1

Just An Illusionary Duplicate, Glamour, Obedient

Good At: Looking Like Caster (+3), Distracting (+1)

Bad At: Mirror Images do not actually exist and can't do anything other than confuse and distract attackers.
