Squires are Knights in training. Often of Noble blood, they assist Knights on and off the field. Though they can appear to be nothing more than glorified servants, in fact their time of fetching and carrying for their patrons is just part of a sometimes grueling process of training and preparation for knighthood. |
Squires receive martial training from their sponsors and eventually earn their spurs. Of course, as with all things in the Old World fairness has little to do with it. Favoured Noble scions might only spend a few months going through the motions, while less advantaged Squires might spend several years of servitude before acending to knighthood. |
NOTE: If you take Common Knowledge (Bretonnia) and Speak Language (Breton) during character creation, your character can be from Bretonnia but has traveled to the Empire for some reason, at your option. |
