- STEP 1:
DETERMINING POINTS AVAILABLE: The HERO
System is point based; every character has
a certain amount of Character Points with
which to buy abilities with. Whether you
are trying to convert an existing D&D 3e
character into the HERO System, or are looking
to make a new character that is comparable
to a D&D 3e character, you must first determine
how many Character Points you have available
with which to buy abilities. This document
discusses that in detail.
- STEP 2:
CONVERTING CHARACTERISTICS: This document
discusses the correlation between D&D 3e
Statistics and HERO System Characteristics.
- STEP 3:
CONVERTING RACE: This document discusses
how to model D&D 3e Character Races (such
as Elves, Dwarves, etc) in the HERO System,
including links to Race Package Deals.
- STEP 4:
CONVERTING PROFESSIONS: This document
discusses how to model D&D 3e Classes in
the HERO System, complete with links to
documents giving each Class specific attention,
and Profession Package Deals.
- STEP 5:
CONVERTING GEAR, FOLLOWERS, PROPERTY:
This document discusses how to represent
the possessions and trappings of a D&D 3e
Character in the HERO System.
- STEP 6:
PERSONAL DISADVANTAGES: Disadvantages
is a concept that doesn't exist per se in
D&D 3e; this document discusses how to express
your characters background and concept in
terms of Disadvantage, possibly including
behavior defined by Alignment (if the GM
wishes to continue to use Alignment in their
Fantasy HERO games).
- STEP 7:
FINISHING TOUCHES: This document discusses
some final adjustments and personalization
that you might want to consider prior to
entering play with your character.
- STEP 8:
CHARACTER APPROVAL: This document addresses
validating your character and getting the
GM to approve it.
