Abyssal Scion

Grimoire of Endless Possibilities (Fabled)

This magical tome is hefty and solidly bound, with metal corner caps and reinforcement. The elaborate front cover is adorned with a variety of mystical symbols around a magic circle bearing a prominent five-pointed star.

This tome can only be destroyed by being dropped into a Sphere of Annhilation, or by the will of a Greater God of Magic. When not attuned to, it appears to be blank and all attempts to write in it or deface its pages fail.

Attuned Abilities

Spellbook. If you are a spellcaster such as a Wizard who keeps spells in a spellbook, you may use this book as your spellbook. This tome always has more blank pages for you to add spells to, and you can cause it to turn to any spell currently scribed within it when you open it. The tome has an effect similar to an Arcane Lock that prevents creatures other than you from opening it, which reactivates after 1d10 minutes if dispelled.

If you lose attunement to this item all the pages immediately become blank, but if you attune to it again within 2d4-1 days (rolled secretly by the DM), your enscribed spells reappear.

Fabled Abilities

The following abilities are unlocked for an attuned character of the indicated character level or higher.

5
Recall Tome. You can teleport this item into your hands from anywhere on the same plane of existence. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until after the next Dusk.
9
Rapid Ritual. When you cast a spell with the Ritual tag from this tome, the ritual casting time is reduced by a number of minutes equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1).
13
Makeshift Ritual. You can cast a spell in this tome that does not have the Ritual tag as a Ritual. Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until after the next Dusk.
17
Unwritten Spell. As a Magic Action you can open this tome and allow the pages to rapidly turn themselves, stopping on a page containing a spell of your choice from your spell list that is not already in your spellbook, has a casting time of an action, lacks a costly material component, and that you have an available spell slot for. You cast that spell immediately without spell components. Once you have used this feature you cannot use it again until after the next Dusk.
