Clerics

Protection Domain

Gods of the Protection domain are divine bastions against the encroaching darkness. They are invoked by those who build walls, forge shields, and hold the line against overwhelming odds. Clerics of this domain specialize in warding magic, creating localized sanctuaries on the battlefield, and acting as an impenetrable anchor to safeguard their allies.

Level 3: Protection Domain Spells

Your connection to this divine domain ensures you always have certain spells ready.

When you reach a Cleric level specified in the Protection Domain Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared. They are Cleric spells for you and do not count against your Prepared Spell limit.

Cleric Level Spells

5

9
Circle of Power, Wall of Force
Level 3: Protective Ward

You gain the Blade Ward cantrip. It counts as a Cleric cantrip for you, and it doesn't count against your number of cantrips known. If your Holy Symbol is visibly displayed upon your person, you can cast Blade Ward without requiring any spell components.

Additionally, when a creature you can see within 30 feet of you is targeted by an attack, you can take a Reaction to cast Blade Ward on that creature.

Level 3: Warding Aura

You can project a divine sanctuary to blunt incoming harm. As a Bonus Action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to emanate a shimmering magical nimbus in a 5-foot radius around yourself. The aura moves with you, sheds Dim Light within its area and for an additional 10 feet outside of itself, and lasts for 1 hour or until you have the Incapacitated condition.

All targets within the aura gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class and a +1 bonus to all saving throws against all attacks and effects that originate from outside of the aura.

Level 6: Rapid Glyph

You can rapidly weave complex magical traps in the heat of battle. As a Magic action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity and trace your holy symbol on a surface to cast Glyph of Warding without expending a spell slot or requiring material components (including any material components required by a stored spell).

Level 6: Reliable Ward

When you cast Blade Ward, the spell does not end while you continue to maintain Concentration, and taking damage cannot cause you to lose Concentration on Blade Ward.

Level 17: Aegis of the Protector

When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you fails a saving throw, you can take a Reaction to cause the creature to succeed instead. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Additionally, the spell Foresight is always prepared for you, counts as a Cleric spell, and does not count against your Prepared Spell limit. When you cast Foresight, you can do so using your holy symbol instead of providing its material component.
