The Permutating Pivot

No two known variants of the Multiversal Glitch known as the Permutating Pivot have been the same. Outwardly, they are the most diverse of the glitchs. But despite the outward dissimilarity and divergent origins, all of the variants secretly serve Arawn and are very consistent in their personalities and outlooks.

A common theme with all known variants is a close relationship with the dualities of life and death, light and darkness, weal and woe. Additionally, all known variants have been True Neutral with evil tendencies in the form of a clinical lack of compassion and a ruthless pragmatism around making tough decisions. The variants also tend to have wolf-like yellow eyes, some permanently others conditionally.

Variants

Ha'ka, the Adapter

This implacable Bugbear Metamorph is flexible of mind and body, bending himself to whatever shape necessary to overcome adversity. Many underestimate his intellect due to his appearance, but Ha'ka's mind is brilliant in its clarity and focus. Through research, meditation, and insight he has an advanced understanding of the nature of the Glitches and what must come, though not to the same level of detail as Prince Uriel or von Nyx. Quietly, he labors to bring about an outcome that favors equilibrium.

Ca'je, Harvester of the Unworthy

This Gith Warlock of the Withering Bloom brews concoctions and reaps what other others sow.

Ek-ja, the Even Handed

This impassive Drow Monk of Mercy heals and harms with but a touch.

Eliminated Variants

The following variants have either been killed off or the player has ruled them out as their final form.

A'cki, the Hound of Shadow

This fell-touched Shifter Shadow Sorcerer is a master of bending darkness to his will.

J'ack, The Chainer

This inscrutable Yuan-Ti Ranger unerringly Hunts down their quarry.

This grim Revenant Artificer sought to master life and death, but karma is a harsh lady.

This physical phenom Lykosian Barbarian embraces the Wildness in their Heart.

Ka'ne, The Omener

This stern Aasimar Druid of Annwn foretells boons and dooms alike.

Hie'Jac, of the Old Way

This stern Orc Paladin adheres to the Ancient Oaths, correcting imbalances...with force if necessary.

I*jhan the Renewer

This grim Githyanki has mastered the forces of life and unlife...particularly the later of the two. He is never one to let anything go to waste, particularly currently unused biomass. Even in unlife, those he reanimates can help find a new equilibrium.

I-cke the Remover

This grim Goblin unerringly seeks out and elimnates those who need to die to rebalance reality.

Fabled Items

The many variants of the Multiversal Glitch known as the Permutating Pivot often bear some combination of the following signature magic items. All known variants have carried the Blackstar Amulet.

Blackstar Amulet

This shiny black 8-pointed star reflects silvery white when turned in the light. Ice cold to the touch, weighty in the hand. A worshiper of Arawn that touches this amulet feels a great sense of peace, and can use it as a Holy Symbol or as a spellcasting focus.

Ring of Arawn

This silver and black knotwork ring is unassuming and plain, appearing to be common and inexpensive. While wearing it, a worshiper of Arawn can use it as a Holy Symbol.

Blade of Arawn

This dark silvered magic item can appear as any kind of melee weapon when discovered. A worshiper of Arawn that touches this weapon feels a great sense of peace, and can use it as a Holy Symbol or as a spellcasting focus.

Pendant of the Wolf

This flat pendant features stark white and black wolf heads in a yin-yang like pattern. A worshiper of Arawn can use this pendant as a Holy Symbol.

Player Favor

When the campaign draws to a close, each Glitch's "true" form must be chosen, eliminating all the other variants from having ever existed. Following are the player's relative scores (expressed as a Tier list) for the variants and special items of this Glitch. The scores are not a measure of power or quality, they instead measure the player's overall enjoyment on the one hand, and likelihood of selection for the endgame on the other.
