Barbarians

Path of Howling Winds

Barbarians upon the Path of Howling Winds are conduits for the untamed, roaring tempests of the elemental planes. Their rages are not merely expressions of anger, but sudden atmospheric shifts. When they frenzy, the air pressure drops, static electricity arcs from their skin, and howling gales lift them from the earth.

In combat, they flit across the battlefield like living cyclones, deflecting projectiles with walls of wind and striking with the deafening force of a thunderbolt.

Level 3: Aerial Advantages

You have Advantage on Initiative rolls and Acrobatics checks.

Additionally, you have an intuitive ability to speak, read, and write Primordial (Auran).

Level 3: Howling Rage

When you enter your Rage, you manifest the fury of a deadly storm. You gain the following benefits while Raging:

Storm Blessed. You gain Resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage.

Storm Rider. If you already have a Fly Speed, it increases by 15 feet. Otherwise, you gain a Fly Speed equal to your Speed. While you are flying, you can take the Disengage action as a Bonus Action during your turn.

Thunder Warrior. When you score a critical hit, a crack of thunder that can be heard up to 100 feet away echoes forth from the target. The target and each creature of your choice within 10 feet of it takes Thunder damage equal to your Rage bonus.

Level 6: Howling Nimbus

Your rage generates a localized, violent atmospheric disturbance. While you are Raging, ranged attacks targeting you have Disadvantage.

Level 6: Swift Like the Wind

You gain the ability to move with the swiftness of a gust of wind. When you take either the Disengage action or the Dash action, you also gain the benefits of taking the other action.

Level 10: Brutal Strike Option

Before rolling the damage for your Brutal Strike, you may choose to have the extra damage be Lightning damage. Additionally, when a creature takes Lightning damage from your Brutal Strike, you have the following additional effect option:

Fulminating Strike. The creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC 8 plus your Strength modifier and Proficiency Bonus) or gain the Restrained condition until the end of their next turn.

Level 14: Essence of the Storm

You have Resistance to Lightning and Thunder damage all the time now, not just while Raging.

Elemental Affinity. You gain the creature type of Elemental (Air) in addition to your other creature types, and you suffer no ill effects from the environment of the Elemental Plane of Air. The initial disposition of Air Elementals towards you is one category better than it normally would be, and they will not attack you unless their disposition changes to hostile. However, the initial disposition of Earth Elementals towards you is one category worse than it normally would be.

Improved Storm Rider. You gain the Storm Rider benefits of your Howling Rage feature all the time now, not just while Raging.
