Unarmed
Attack, Innate
Unarmed is used in conflicts when fighting hand to hand without weapons.
Justifications for Unarmed include natural talent, martial arts or fighting styles such as boxing and wrestling, as well as natural weapons such as fangs, claws, powerful tails, and the like.
Range: Unarmed is typically only effective against opponents in the character's current zone.
Effect: Unarmed is usually used on actions to inflict Body damage, but can also be used to create a Asset or target a Complication when appropriate.
Unarmed can be used on reactions to defend against close combat attacks. It might be used on reactions to defend against some other attacks if it seems appropriate to the narrative. If a character uses Unarmed as a reaction to defend against an attack made using another Ability Trait as if it were Unarmed (such as stepped-down Strength), they can double their Unarmed die and keep an extra die for their result.
Common SFX: Some characters might choose to take one or more SFX such as 'Tooth & Claw' or 'Grappling' to further nuance their Unarmed fighting capability, but it is not required.
Common Limits: Unarmed is not item based and cannot be deactivated by 'disarming' or similar tactics, thus the Gear Limit is not appropriate for it.
Unarmed can be complicated by things such as grapples or similar effects that limit a character's movement; this doesn't justify taking a Limit on it.
