STATUS: ACTIVE: Apex is currently
an active member of the team. |

Raised fatherless, by his mother in the
priveleged La Jolla community of San Diego,
Ezil believes himself to be a mutant. In
reality, his father is the Empyrean Eidolon
whom his mother had a brief affair with.
Unlike his father, whose Empyrean abilities
take the form of mental powers and dream
control, Ezil's have thus far been oriented
towards superhuman strength and durability.
|
|
Well adjusted, popular, and always careful
to keep his abilities secret Ezil had the
sort of privileged "cool" California adolescence
movies and TV shows are made about, and
after graduation accepted football scholarships
to play at the University of San Diego so
he could keep the party train rolling.
|
|
However fate took a hand. One night Ezil
was doing some lab work after hours, mostly
for the opportunity to work on getting his
cute lab partner Amelee into bed than for
any scholastic interest, when VIPER and
the super-thug Ogre raided the labs looking
for something. Ezil and his lab partner
were subdued, which Ezil allowed rather
than reveal his powers.
|
|
|
"I dunno man; I'm just here to look
good and hit things." |
|
But when Ogre got too rough with Amelee
and knocked her down and out, Ezil instinctively
took action, sending Ogre sprawling with
a thunderous right - left combo. A kick
to the head before he could regain his feet
put the supervillain out, and earned Apex
Ogre's everlasting emnity for being a "bully".
|
|
The VIPER agents were dismayed to say the
least to see the super tough Ogre so easily
dispatched by what appeared to be nothing
more than a college punk. Ezil proceeded
to press the attack on the agents, and demoralized
by this unexpected turn of events they team
extracted Ogre's unconscious form and beat
a hasty retreat.
|
|
Lacking any witnesses to his display of
powers, after checking on Amalee and determining
she was only unconscious and not dead as
he had feared, Ezil clubbed himself on the
head and laid down to act like he had also
been knocked out by VIPER or Ogre, a tactic
that worked when the cops and paramedics
arrived.
|
|
However while he may have fooled the authorities,
the VIPER agents and Ogre had seen his face
and carried a grudge and not two weeks later
Ezil was ambushed by a better prepared and
reenforced VIPER 8 team, Ogre, and Lazer
as he was going to his car after finishing
up some lab work early one evening. In the
ensuing battle Ezil's beautiful sports car
was destroyed by Ogre, and taking a beating
Ezil was forced to temporarily flee. However
Ogre and a few agents ran him down inside
the building he had fled into, and a raging
super battle transpired. Ezil got in some
good hits and even had Ogre down for a few
seconds, but the two were too closely matched
and with the VIPER agents and Lazer taking
pot shots as well it was too much and he
finally succumbed.
|
|
Things may have gone badly for Ezil at that
point, but some time later the rookie hero
Makeshift arrived
and disrupted VIPER's plans. The next thing
Ezil knew he regained consciousness in
another building entirely with some guy
in a power armor suit fighting Ogre. Ezil
quickly rejoined the fight and with his
new found ally quickly routed VIPER.
|
|
Unfortunately while the supers fought the
VIPER team lead had time to accomplish his
mission. In the aftermath the heroes discovered
the head of the Biology department at the
school executed in his office, files stolen,
and the computer blasted! They also found
evidence of some odd research involving
mutating frogs. Makeshift was able to get
the (blasted) harddrive out of the professors
computer before the cops arrived on the
scene. The duo exchanged contact information
and vowed to stay in touch to investigate
this mysterious VIPER raid in depth.
|
|
Meanwhile in the media there was speculation
on whether San Diego had gained a pair of
new superheroes or if they were just passing
through. When both Makeshift and Apex appeared
several weeks later at the AEGIS trials,
rumors began to fly that they were in San
Diego to stay. Many local hero afficiandos
are ecstatic to have some fresh talent in
the area, and there has been a fair amount
of buzz on various internet message forums
about them. Only time will tell if the rookie
heroes live up to the expectations or not.
