Background: Erich von Nehoppel is a native of Ablanc, home of the famous "Flying Bridge" across the raging Zavesh River, but was found to have merit by a "Finder" belonging to the Venerable Order of Esow. Erich was taught the basics of Esowyc Magic in the Siontrw at Ablanc but was eventually sent to several Siontrwyc for various studies, first at Varford then Murbrog, followed by Orungar, Sturen, and finally Turnhaus, finally returning to Ablancland in his mid-20's. Erich was a promising student, but easily distracted, and his duties after finishing his studies were primarily composed of fetching Material Components for the Order, called "Gathering". Erich's personality proved to be suitable for this normally detested newbie task, and the elders were only too happy to let him continue to handle such matters even after the traditional "coming up" period was past. Thus Erich's life until the present has been one random adventure or journey after another. However, he was good at making friends, palling around with several adventuring companies that he journeyed with in his Gathering quests, he faced many monsters that live in the mountains, and he even somewhat befriended the Var at Veri. Due to his traveling his studies suffered and he is quite behind the curve of ther Esowyc of his years, but his sunny demeanor and easy manner ensure that he is never relegated to the sidelines. With his advancing years he has finally hung up his adventuring cloak and assumed greater duties in the Ablanc Siontrw; ill-suited to indoor work by temperment he is now a "Finder" himself, responsible for testing children for merit and recruiting likely lads and lasses into the Order. He roams the villages and towns of Ablancland and Ablanc itself in pursuit of these duties, and his generall contented with his lot in life. |

Campaign Use: The Esowyc (ee-SUE-eek) are part of an organization of Magic Users called the Venerable Order of Esow (ee-SUE), an indepent organization whose membership endeaver on their on behalf and on the behalf of the Order as well. The Order of Esow is fairly good sized, with several large centers of operations called Siontrwyc (shawn-TRUE-eek), or Siontrw (shawn-TRUE) singular, each lead by a panel of six elder Esowyc, and many smaller ones called Dynwyc (deh-NEW-eek) or Dynw (deh-NEW) singular. The Order of Esow sees to the identification and training of new members, serves as a political lobby for the aggrandizement of Esowyc, and as a self-protection network for its' members. In return members are expected to carry out tasks when directed to do so by the elders. |
