Pathfinder HERO |
|
Background
|
|
So, I've got a very detailed D&D 3e to
HERO System Conversion thing that
I provide elsewhere on the site that's pretty
widely referenced and used. However its
very much a how-to, intended to help GM's
convert from whatever particular setting
or combination of supplements they use in
their campaigns rather than a (practically
impossible) attempt to provide finished
immediately consumable conversions of printed
material. (There are also matters of IP
infringement to consider).
|
|
However perhaps the most common request
I get from people regarding it is for more
examples of actual, concrete D&D characters
and materials and what they look like converted
into the HERO System. So, I decided to choose
an interesting D&D 3e based setting
with high visibility and convert some material
from it to serve as a practical example.
I initially chose Ptolus, but I got feedback
that the rulebook was too expensive, and
ultimately fewer people acquired it than
I initially thought would.

|
Then came Pathfinder, a new
serialized setting / adventure path from
Paizo Publishing, the people responsible
for putting out Dragon & Dungeon magazines
the last few years, up until WotC woefully
decided to go all-digital and killed off
both.
|
|
The Paizo people are a talented bunch, including
the likes of Erik Mona, long time champion
of my own favorite setting (The World of
Greyhawk), RPGA, and other various and sundry
contributions to the fanbase. They have
high production values and all in all generally
do a really good job of things.
|
|
While I'm not all that interested in it
myself, I figured if there was any product
that a lot of people would pick up, out
of curiosity if nothing else, it would be
at least the first issue of Pathfinder.
The rest is here before you.
